Selection process for Cognizant

The selection process for Cognizant is pretty straight forward. It takes three main steps.

Step 1: Apply

The candidates are taken through on- campus and off- campus placements. The eligibility is to maintain 60% marks throughout academics starting from X class. If you are attending an on- campus placement, your placement officer is going to take care of this step.

Step 2: Evaluation

If you are experienced or have applied to a specific job on Cognizant’s job portal, you have to wait to get shortlisted. Experienced candidates need not participate in evaluation. So, they can skip this step.

The selection for On- Campus and Off- campus is done to select candidates for three roles:

1. Analyst Trainee: general AMCAT based test
2. Programming Trainee: general AMCAT based test
3. Specialist Programming Trainee: AMCAT with special syllabus

The package of the analyst, programming and specialist programming trainees are in increasing order. The tests for an analyst trainee and a programming trainee are same. If you score better in all rounds, you’ll be qualified to become the programming trainee.

Cognizant’s Automata fix assessment round:

This round will have questions about coding. You’ll be asked to fix all errors in a given code, to correct syntax of a given code without changing the logic or to complete a code by reusing existing functions in the code.

2. Test Pattern for Special Programming trainee:

Though this test is also AMCAT based, the syllabus and test pattern differ from previous ones. Same test pattern is followed for both on- campus placements and off- campus placements.

Step 3: Interview

Once you have cleared all written evaluations or if your profile has been shortlisted, then you will face the interview rounds. Cognizant has two rounds of interviews and it is mandatory to clear both.
