Written test was a surprise as the recruiting Team previously told that there wouldn’t be any test. But there was a test consisting of 20 verbal questions and 25 Quantitative aptitude.Total of 45 questions.I found it easy.
What went right for you at different stages of the process?
Test was good and I was confident of a very high score. I was keeping my cool and thinking about the interview tackling strategy and not worrying about anything else in mind.I had made a study of the firms business and company profile(when did It begin,Who started it, what are their business, present projects in hand to name a few)
What went wrong for you at different stages of the process?
When they were negotiating the salary I felt I had asked a bit more than what actually was provided. I wasn’t able to answer 3 questions out of about 12 questions which was farely ok.for the questions I did not know I said “Sir,I do not know “.
What question(s) did you ask the interview panel?
I was a Service Industry based person with 1 year of experience who was looking for a design job offered by Atkins Global. I was interviewed by the Director of Water & Environment projects, Senior Mechanical Engineer- Water & Environment projects from UK and the recruitment coordinator of Atkins Global. They were one of the most knowledgeable gentlemen I had ever met with a polite tone and a very good diction. Interview went on to about 2Hours beginning with Self introduction,Education,Family details. they asked me as to what do I knew about the firm and they were surprised to know that I told quite a lot of things and gave an appraisal for the same. They asked me about the present job, position held, responsibilities,If I travel or If I do not. Then getting into the technical aspects, they asked me about 12-14 questions related to pumps, performance curves,Water Industry based questions.I also explained about my college project and that I had worked on Design tools and was proficient.Lastly Salary negotiation.
Any suggestions/ dos & don’ts/ special preparation tips for your juniors:
Please say NO if you do not know the answer to any of the questions answered by the interview panel.Do not bluff.Prepare and make a background study of the firm, the job profile and get a good understanding of the concepts.Prepare about 2 subjects from your Degree curriculum. One of the important thing is you should always be in the proper formal attire with polished shoes and clean shaven beard.Maintain the correct posture when you sit and avoid chatting or gossiping outside where you are made to sit (Waiting Room or reception). All the best.
Be on the know,
be a winner.
